star laos thai restaurant:
chicken pad thai ($9.00):
Famous Thai rice noodle with chicken, egg, green onions, bean sprouts and peanuts. They were the first to come and the first to disappear. It lacked the "wok heat" that good pad thai had but it was still good. We were presented a separate container of crushed peanuts so we could add to our tastes.
bbq tongue ($9.00):
Marinated ox-tongue served with chilli sauce. Ox tongue can be intimidating for some but you'll never experience its nice chewy texture if you don't! The ox tongue is marinated and then grilled. They were not overcooked but tender and chewy. It doesn't taste heavy and the sauce is a nice addition.
masaman curry ($10.00):
Special curry paste, potatoes, peanuts and coconut milk. The potatoes were a little undercooked but the beautiful cinnamon taste just overrides its flaws.
hot & sour soup - tom yum ($12.00):
Popular Thai soup simmered with lemon grass, chilli and lemon juice, with fish. Did not expect my family to like this since they aren't a big fan of hot and sour foods but they loved it! Arriving second, it increased our appetite with its flavourful soup.
Spent a total of $45.00 for 4 people - $5.00 extra for large jasmine rice.
It only takes me 3 minutes to walk here. (I never knew I lived so close to a Thai eatery - it's right next to Tommy's Kebab!). The staff were pleasant and welcoming, food is simple and worth its price! Plus they were playing all my favourite JYJ songs. If I were feeling tired and lazy one day, I'd come back.
