On the window sill are golden statues. The interior is very neat and modern creating a very smart look for the hotel. There are bird cage lights hanging from the ceiling and there's even a blue and yellow tuk-tuk near the bar.
"I can't get over the fact that this place used to be a bar and there's a casino at the back." a friend commented multiple times as we approached the door.
green peppercorn:
gang kiew wan - chicken green curry ($12.90):
Aromatic curry with vegetables and sweet basil. The small pieces of chicken were covered with a generous amount of ginger strips and sweet basil making it very fragrant and the thickness of it was good too.
pad kapao - seasoned vegetables ($10.90):
Chilli, basil garlic suace with stir fried green beans, onion, banana chilli (seasonal vegetables). The sweet chilli sauce is not overly thick or spicy.
yum womsen ($12.90):
Mixed hot and sour seagood vermicelli salad tossed in Chef's special dressing of dry shrimp, peanuts, tumeric and lime juice served on a bed of lettuce, tomato, spanish onions and mixed with glass noodles, coriander, shallots and mint leaves.
pad thai - vegetable ($10.90) :
Stir fried thin rice noodles with garlic, chives, red onions, egg and garnished with bean sprouts and crushed peanuts.
lao sausages ($10.90):
Home made pork sausages, lightly seasoned and grilled over a charcoal bbq giving it a crispy skin and tender centre. Served with mum's special sauce.
pad see ew chicken ($12.90):
Sweet soy sauce flavoured stir fried flat noodles with vegetables and egg.
Damn, I didn't get a chance to try their desserts! (i.e. pandan creme brulee). Saw good reviews of it everywhere. Maybe next time !
Fairfield is changing! Maybe its shifty impression will change into something more prosper. Very co-operative staff. Overall, I think everyone had an enjoyable time making conversation over lunch and spending about $8.50 per person for 8 people. Serving sizes would be considered small for the price charged though.
